Sagittarius is the fourth constellation in the zodiac. It shows a rider with a bow and arrow. The word Sagittarius means ‘archer’ in Latin.
Today, people born between November 23 and December 21 are called Sagittarius. Horoscopes say they can learn about love, luck, health, or their personality based on the stars.
But was this the way the ancient people understood Sagittarius?
Be Warned! Learning the true meaning of Sagittarius might surprise you – leading you on a new journey, different from simply checking your daily horoscope…
Constellation Sagittarius Origins
Sagittarius is a group of stars that early people saw as a man riding a horse and shooting an arrow—sometimes drawn as a centaur (half-man, half-horse). Can you see anything resembling a centaur, a horse, or an archer in this star photo?

But if you look at the stars, even with lines drawn to connect them, it’s hard to see a rider or a horse.

ancient drawings, like the zodiac on the Dendera Temple in Egypt (over 2000 years old), show this image clearly.

The National Geographic zodiac poster shows Sagittarius as seen in the Southern Hemisphere. Even connecting the Sagittarius stars with lines, it is hard to ‘see’ a rider, horse or centaur in this constellation.

Just like with the other zodiac signs, the image of an archer did not come from the stars themselves. Instead, the image came first, and people used the stars to remind them of a bigger story.
It is only when we see Sagittarius together with the other star signs that we understand its full meaning.

The Original Zodiac Story
The zodiac was not meant to give daily horoscopes about health or luck. It was created to tell the story of God’s plan. The 12 zodiac constellations recorded this plan as a visual reminder for people. Astrology originally was the study and knowledge of this story in the stars.
The Story began with Virgo showing the coming of a child born from a virgin. Libra showed that our good deeds are not enough for heaven. Scorpio showed the battle between the promised child and God’s enemy. Now, Sagittarius shows how the battle ends.
Sagittarius in the Zodiac Story
Sagittarius shows us the end of the battle. The constellations surrounding Sagittarius show the context that reveals the meaning of Sagittarius.

When we see this constellation next to Scorpio, we notice that the arrow of Sagittarius points directly at Scorpio’s heart. This means the archer is about to defeat his enemy.
The Dendera Zodiac and other ancient sky charts also show this message: the rider wins the fight.

The Sagittarius chapter in the written Story
This part of the zodiac matches the Bible’s prophecy about Jesus returning to Earth again to defeat His enemy once and for all. The book of Revelation tells us about this moment.
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”
19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army.
Revelation 19: 11-21
He leads an army of heaven, and from his mouth comes a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is a picture of Jesus, returning not as a baby but as a conquering King.
The serpent’s Doom
In the next chapter of Revelation, we see what happens to Satan:
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
Revelation 20:1-3
7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:7-10
Later, Satan is released for a short time and gathers people to fight again. But God sends fire from heaven, and Satan is thrown into the lake of fire forever.
This is the final defeat of God’s enemy. Sagittarius shows this victory in the stars, just like Revelation does in the Bible.
The First Astrological Unit (The First Four Signs)
The first four signs—Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius—form one unit in the 12-part zodiac story:
Virgo: Explained His coming from the Seed of the virgin, giving birth to the promised child. Libra: Our actions are not enough to earn salvation and there is a price required. Scorpio: The price would be death and the enemy tries to destroy the promised one. Sagittarius: The promised one wins and becomes King.
These are not just messages for people born in certain months. They are for everyone. Jesus fulfilled the first three signs when He came to earth the first time. It was given so we could know the ultimate triumph over the enemy and choose our allegiance accordingly. Jesus Christ fulfilled Virgo, Libra and Scorpio in his first coming. The sign of Sagittarius will be fulfilled when He returns again.
Since the first three signs of this unit have been fulfilled, it provides a basis to trust that the Sagittarius Sign will also be fulfilled.
Jesus and Your Sagittarius Horoscope
The word “horoscope” comes from the Greek word “horo” meaning “hour”. The Bible also talks about the hour of Jesus’ return.
“But about that day or hour (horo) no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.“
Matthew 24:36
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour (horo) when you do not expect him.
Matthew 24:44
Jesus tells us that no one knows the exact hour (horo) of Christ’s return except God. But, there are clues showing that the hour is close. It says we will not expect it or be ready for it.
Your Daily Sagittarius Horoscope from the ancient Zodiac
How can you live based on this message from Sagittarius?
Sagittarius tells that us that you will face many distractions before the hour of the return of the Christ and the complete defeat of Satan. In fact, if you are not daily transformed by the renewing of your mind then you will be conformed to the standards of this world –and that hour will hit you unexpectedly and you will not be compatible with Him when He is revealed. If you do not want to reap all the terrible consequences of missing that hour you need to make a conscious decision daily to be prepared. Take stock of whether you are mindlessly following the gossip and intrigues of the celebrities and soap operas. If so that will most likely result in traits such as slavery of your mind, loss of close relationships now, and certainly miss the hour of his return along with most others.
Your personality has both its strengths and weaknesses, but the enemy, who wants you to remain distracted, attacks you at your weak characteristics. Be it idle gossip, pornography, greed, or just wasting your time on social media, He knows the temptations that you will fall for. So pray for help and guidance so that you can walk the straight and narrow path and be ready for that hour. Seek out the few others who also do not want to miss that hour and together you can help each other daily so it does not come upon you unexpectedly.
To summarize:
The world is full of distractions. If you let your mind follow the world, you won’t be ready when Jesus returns. You may miss the hour because you are too busy with gossip, social media, TV, or unhealthy habits. The enemy knows where your weaknesses are—whether it’s lust, greed, jealousy, or just wasting time.
So what should you do? Pray for strength. Ask God to help you stay on the right path. Read the Bible daily and stay close to other believers who also want to be ready. Encourage each other so that the return of Jesus does not surprise you.
